Make it stand out.
“So…I just talked to someone who “kind of does monitor and contain the gnarlier parts of IT and cyber security as part of his profession at this point in his career”…You know what “maturity and wisdom in a cyber room can start to look like”? I remember a few years back, I saw a house in Michigan that clearly had signs of hoarding in it. The mom had bags of trash literally all over the front yard, things were rotting inside of the house…I think that even people who have been around the “not always friendly” side of cyber security and IT are starting to realize…and it will create a divisive “wave” within the group chat. I actually do think [and Holy Lord it has been a process to even start to have this conversation…]…that is better to say “um…you know…he may be an “over comer”, he may have “coded his way out of poverty”…his mom “may be so proud”…but I think there is a certain tipping point where cyber security professionals are going to start to say…you know what. He is going to “statistically speaking be the one to really mishandle some data, and cause security issues with how the data is being used.” So the solution is going to start to be “I’m sorry…but coders like this are going to be spotted in the application process early, quickly weeded out, kept out of application rounds…and trust me, it will make “cyber land” a much calmer place to be.
