Short Opinion Take One For Medium

1. Let’s Take A Serious Look At Why A Group Of True Seniors In The UI/UX Industry Would Not Hire Someone Like This.

This is actually based on a true story. At a UI/UX design bootcamp in New York City, there was a group of three “early twenty something Asian girls”. There was an elderly lady there who had worked in the Fortune 500 in New York for twenty five years. This elderly lady was at this bootcamp because she was looking into starting a small web design and UI/UX design consulting business. What did this “adorable” little “squad” of Asian girls do? They actually hid files on this elderly lady at this workshop. These three Asian girls really should be kept out of the hiring rounds. Seniors in this industry do not want to onboard “little squads of cyber brats” who “are just going to be dragged onto a floor and create chaos.”

Please keep in mind that seniors within the UI/UX design industry are at a point in their life and their career where “they are trying to cultivate peace and stability in both their professional and personal lives.” When you actually sit down and *talk* to seniors in the UI/UX design industry, you know what pattern you tend to notice? You’ll talk to a guy with an actual government security clearance who would take the time to edit people’s resumes at industry events [he was actually really nice and helped me edit my resume] even when he was going through *a pretty intense divorce*. There’s a guy out in Texas who comes from a family of nurses who “will still make logos for a friend of his who owns a small business at a discounted rate”, and he’s worked at Google. I talked to Carl Bisenius, and we did the initial design and consultation work for a rideshare startup named Wyth, and he’s worked for Apple. Carl actually took the time to protect his girlfriend from working on a long term contract that would not have paid her. Seniors in this industry have usually reached this point by “nudging some people in the right direction.”
