About

From Berkeley Heights, NJ. At home everywhere.

My name is Kaitlin Taylor, and I work in User Interface, User Experience, Front End Web Development, and Illustration. Before I attended the Flatiron School for UI & UX design, I earned a Computer Science degree at Rutgers University New Brunswick. In addition to attending school for coding and UI & UX design, I have studied fine art extensively in New York City at schools such as Grand Central Atelier, Spring Street Studio, the New York Academy of Art, and the Art Students League.

Before attending the Flatiron School’s UI & UX design program, I worked as a teaching assistant for a graduate level Python Methodologies course and a Computer Science tutor at the Rutger’s Instructional Lab. Here, I learned how to think like a User Experience designer when I had to break down a student's complex programming problems into easy to understand parts. I had to take complex topics from Intro to Computer Science, Data Structures, and Computer
Architecture courses and explain it in a way that is straightforward and accessible. This tutoring experience taught me how to listen to a user and help them to solve their problems in a manageable way.

Due to my educational background, I am able to apply both the methodical planning of a programmer and the
visual eye of a fine artist to my User Experience and User Interface design work.

Outside of UI/UX work, I stay inspired by creating figure drawings, making portrait painting, and running a dog walking business.
