“What talking to someone who has actually worked in UI/UX and has worked in the Fortune 500 over the past ten years can really look like.”
“So he’s worked at Blizzard, he’s worked at Atlassian, and he has a government clearance.”
“He was a bit of a “pariah” in the industry for a bit because of “some divorce drama”… until someone said “you know what, he’s good at this industry, and he’s actually taken the time to mentor people”…and he actually did get a pretty funny “we’re going to ship you new stuff so that you can rebuild your life after how that divorce went down”.
Tips that he gave: “well, realistically, yeah of course UI/UX designers are helping each other write their resumes, a lot of us send out hundreds of applications a day even when we get our first Fortune 100 company role, and no, that is not “cheating”…
“He’s actually worked with some really great data scientists at Microsoft who are Indian…and those data scientists have actually done work to say “ok, we know when a certain guy from India actually should not get a U.S. passport.”
“He got his LinkedIn hacked, his LinkedIn was actually taken down…and he has a government clearance!”
“He can’t even fully comment on the way tracking everywhere at certain offices “is having some
funny effects on staff members”…
“His advice at this point: “try to stay out of office drama,
exercise everyday, and know that things get better.”
